SimplyHired.com Launches First Personalized Job Search Using Facebook

Today, Simply Hired launched the first personalized job search experience by integrating with Facebook. Job seekers in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and India can now opt-in to this feature and search for jobs with the help of their Facebook friends. 

Using this new capability, users who log-in with Facebook are able to discover jobs based on their friends’ companies on the homepage of SimplyHired.com. On the search results page, users will also be able to search for jobs at their friends’ companies as well as privately message friends about job opportunities to get the inside track on a job.

This integration also incorporates unique features including personalized job recommendations based on user interests, location and work titles. A company directory listing where all friends work is also available for a more thorough search, as well as the ability to hunt for jobs at companies the user likes. Additionally, users can also see companies where they have the highest number of friends and other relevant job-related information.

Through beta testing of this feature, we’ve seen user engagement on SimplyHired.com double for users who log-in to Facebook. Having seen such a large jump in engagement with the beta integration, we’re more excited than ever to see how the full integration will help job seekers connect with their social networks and land their dream job.

Simply Hired® Launches Integration with Facebook® Platform (beta)

Today, Simply Hired announces the launch of the first job search experience to combine the world’s largest social graph with the largest jobs database. Through an extended beta integration with Facebook Platform, job seekers can now interact with their Facebook profile and friends on SimplyHired.com to receive customized job recommendations and land a job.

Simply Hired is committed to offering the best job search experience and providing tools to help job seekers find their dream jobs. We have been hearing from our users that they’re frequently using social sites such as Facebook to find a job. In fact, according to one of the latest SimplyHired.com polls, 65% of respondents already leverage their social graphs to job search. To better understand how we can successfully offer job seekers a search experience leveraging their friends, we are rolling out this Facebook Platform integration.

With this functionality, authenticated Facebook users will be able to discover jobs based on their current or previous work titles, location, interests and their friends’ companies on the home page of SimplyHired.com. From the search results page, job seekers will be able to browse friends’ companies and search for job openings. We hope that this integration will help users leverage their Facebook friends to get an inside track on a job.

To enable this feature, users must opt-in. Information or activity about a user’s job search will not be shared on Facebook at any time.

Find Green Jobs with our New Filter

In honor of Green Week, Simply Hired announced a new specialty filter for Green Jobs which allows job seekers to find jobs within the green industry. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, this includes jobs that are involved in the protection or restoration of the environment or conservation of natural resources.

Going green is a growing trend in the employment industry and is important to many people. According to a SimplyHired.com poll, over half of job seekers prefer to work at green companies. And anyone can get involved – you don’t have to be an engineer that works to LEED certify buildings. In fact, green jobs include (though are not limited to) administrative, sales and accounting positions at green companies. In your job search, check out jobs in the alternative energy space. A majority of the Simply Hired users polled answered that it would be the most needed field in upcoming years.

The number of green jobs available has also seen a rapid increase in growth since January 2009. Overall, green jobs have increased by 26% since the first quarter of 2009. More specifically, wind jobs have seen a 61% increase in the number of job postings since the first quarter of 2009, advanced battery technology jobs have seen a 79% increase and solar jobs have seen a 47% increase.
