Today Simply Hired reported that In December, job openings had an increase of 3.9 percent month-over-month and 10.5 percent year-over-year. Nationwide job competition held steady at a ratio of three unemployed persons for every one job opening.
“It is very exciting to see 2012 come to a close with job openings up 10 percent year-over-year,” said James Beriker, president and CEO of Simply Hired. “Over the last year, we've seen job openings consistently climb while the ratio of unemployed persons to each job opening has held steady. These factors indicate that 2013 is setting up to be another year of positive and steady growth.”
More than 80 percent of occupation categories experienced growth in job openings this month. Farm, fishing and forestry, personal care and service and construction and extraction experienced the largest amount of growth month-over-month.
These findings are part of Simply Hired’s January 2013 Employment Outlook, which highlights job industry and employer trends in national and regional U.S. markets.
