Today, 70 percent of job seekers utilize social networks to find jobs according to Simply Hired’s 2012 Today’s Job Seeker Report). Many have found that referrals from your network connections can offer an inside track to job openings, and get your resume to the top of the stack. In fact, our report also found that 55 percent of job seekers have been hired through a referral.
However, you may not always know which of your connections work at companies that are hiring, or know of the positions at the companies where your connections work. Once you know this information, you can request a recommendation or ask to be referred for a role of interest.
To solve this gap, Simply Hired integrated with LinkedIn to create Who Do I Know®. This feature gives you an in-line view of your connections at companies returned in your job search results. To get started, conduct a job search and turn on Who Do I Know® from the upper right column of the results page. When you find a job of interest where you have a connection, click on their name or picture to open a message box where you can request a referral.
Simply Hired also has a similar Facebook integration, located on the homepage. This feature enables you to log into your Facebook account to view friends at hiring companies and easily message them about opportunities.
In addition, Simply Hired also allows you to share the jobs you find with your social networks. Just click on the "share" link under a job listing from the results page and you’re able to post the job to Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, or send directly to contacts on these networks who might be interested.
Finally, be sure to subscribe to Simply Hired's Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Pinterest accounts where we share job content, career advice and tips, and employment trends information.
