Exciting news for job seekers…nationwide job openings increased in March by 5% since last month and 4.3% compared to March of last year, according to Simply Hired’s April 2012 Employment Outlook. In the report released today highlighting national, local and industry trends, SimplyHired.com reported increased hiring in nearly all top U.S. metros, with 49 out of 50 showing an increase job openings over the past month. Albuquerque & Santa Fe posted the greatest increase, up 8.7%, followed by Minneapolis, West Palm Beach, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Miami & Fort Lauderdale.
Several industries and occupations also showed strong increases in job openings. The construction industry shows continued growth for the third consecutive month with an 11.3% increase in jobs. The travel and retail industries also significantly upped job postings, as companies begin to ramp up for spring and summer seasonal hiring. Other industries experiencing strong growth in job openings include military, media and education, and occupations related to agriculture also saw a boost, given the end of the winter season.
