Mothers are some of the busiest folks around, and taking care of the kids while searching for a job is no small task. As Mother’s Day quickly approaches (May 9th), Simply Hired wanted to show our appreciation for moms everywhere with a few job search tips for the working mother.
Some of the most important things to remember in your job search are to use your network, take advantage of all of your experiences and be confident in yourself. As a mother, you not only have a professional network but a “mom network” as well. The parents of your children’s friend’s are a great resource for networking. So don’t forget to chat with them about their company at the next swim meet or birthday party.
Don’t disregard your mom experiences when sprucing up your resume, either. Problem solving and conflict resolution skills that are learned as a parent are important talents that employers look for in an employee. So be confident when you’re updating your resume and make sure to include all of your skills – whether learned in the office or at home with the kids.
